Advanced Post Tensioning Systems

Hercules offers industry-leading Post Tensioning Systems, featuring our advanced Hercules LMK solution. This system applies compressive force to concrete. As a result, it improves load-bearing capacity and structural integrity in bridges, buildings, silos, and tanks. We designed it for both internal and external tensioning. Furthermore, it enhances design flexibility, reduces costs, and accelerates construction timelines.

Hercules LMK Post-Tensioning System: Strengthening Concrete Structures

Our Hercules LMK solution is a key part of our advanced Post Tensioning Systems. We designed it to improve the structural integrity of concrete structures. The system works by applying tension to steel tendons after the concrete has set. Alternatively, you can use it after installing pre-cast segments. This enhances the structure’s load-bearing capacity. Finally, we bond the tendons to the concrete using grout. This results in a stronger, more durable, and cost-effective structure.

How Our Post Tensioning Systems Work

Our systems work by applying a tensioning force to high-strength steel tendons. We do this after the concrete is poured or after pre-cast segments are installed. First, we anchor these tendons to the structure. Then, after filling them with grout, we bond them securely. The resulting compressive force increases the concrete’s strength. Consequently, this reduces the risk of cracking and enhances the structure’s ability to bear heavy loads.

Applications of Post Tensioning Systems

Engineers widely use our Post Tensioning Systems in construction, following best practices from organizations like the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI). Common applications include:

  • Bridges: Enhances the ability of bridges to support heavy loads and withstand environmental stress. It’s often used with specialized Bridge Construction Equipment.

  • Buildings: Allows for thinner slabs and longer spans. This reduces the need for internal columns.

  • Silos and Tanks: Provides crucial structural stability for large storage units.

  • Segmental Structures: Ideal for constructing precast segments in large infrastructure projects.

Hercules LMK System Advantages

  • Increased Load-Bearing Capacity Post-tensioning compresses concrete. This improves its load-bearing capacity and structural integrity. Therefore, the structure becomes more resilient to external forces.

  • Cost-Effective By using high-strength tendons, the system allows for thinner concrete sections. This reduces material consumption, which leads to significant construction cost savings.

  • Design Flexibility Post-tensioning enables innovative structural designs. For instance, it offers longer spans, fewer columns, and the ability to create unique shapes not achievable with traditional methods.

  • Durability & Aesthetics The compressive forces help control cracking in concrete. This results in durable and aesthetically pleasing structures with fewer visible cracks. Many of these structures also rely on our Laminated Elastomeric Bearings for support.

  • Resilience & Longevity Post-tensioned structures are highly resilient. They are able to withstand environmental factors, which offers an extended service life and reduced maintenance requirements.

  • Accelerated Construction The system speeds up construction schedules. It allows for quicker component assembly, reduced formwork, and faster curing times, ultimately resulting in earlier occupancy.
